Job Description

IBM Consulting is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer – Automation to join its Client Innovation Center in Bangalore. This role is designed for professionals who specialize in building scalable automated testing solutions for modern IT systems and enterprise applications. As part of IBM’s global consulting and technology transformation practice, you will contribute to high-impact client engagements across industries, supporting hybrid cloud, AI-driven platforms, and digital transformation initiatives. The position offers exposure to advanced automation frameworks and delivery models, enabling you to play a critical role in ensuring high-quality, reliable, and efficient software releases for enterprise clients.

As a Quality Engineer in Automation, you will design and implement robust test automation strategies aligned with Agile, DevOps, and containerized environments. You will develop optimized test scenarios, automate test execution workflows, and integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery. This role goes beyond traditional testing by focusing on continuous quality engineering practices, including automated test data management and environment provisioning. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will help reduce manual effort, accelerate release cycles, and enhance overall product quality. Your contributions will directly impact client success by ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability in complex enterprise systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design and develop scalable automated testing frameworks to support web, enterprise, and cloud-based applications, ensuring faster and more reliable release cycles.

2. Create optimized test scenarios using modern automation tools to improve test coverage, reduce redundancy, and enhance execution efficiency.

3. Develop automation scripts for test execution, ensuring minimal manual intervention and improved consistency in validation processes.

4. Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines, aligning testing activities with Agile sprints and DevOps delivery models.

5. Build and maintain automation for test data management and environment provisioning to support seamless testing across multiple environments.

6. Collaborate with development, DevOps, and business stakeholders to ensure quality objectives are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

7. Monitor automation performance metrics and continuously enhance scripts to improve speed, reliability, and scalability.

8. Support containerized testing environments and ensure automation compatibility with container orchestration platforms.

9. Participate in code reviews and automation framework improvements to maintain high standards of quality engineering practices.

10. Contribute to documentation, reporting, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the IBM Consulting delivery ecosystem.

Requirements & Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.

2. 3–5 years of hands-on experience in test automation for enterprise IT systems and applications, with a strong understanding of quality engineering principles.

3. Exposure to popular test automation tools and technologies, with the ability to build and maintain optimized automation frameworks.

4. Experience integrating automation testing within Agile and DevOps environments, including CI/CD pipeline implementation.

5. Knowledge of containerization technologies and experience working with container-based testing environments.

6. Strong understanding of test data management and environment automation strategies to ensure seamless testing operations.

7. Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and continuous testing methodologies to support faster product releases.

8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify automation gaps and implement process improvements.

9. Effective communication skills to collaborate with global teams and articulate testing strategies clearly.

10. Willingness to work in a hybrid work model and travel up to 20% based on project requirements.

The average salary for a Quality Engineer – Automation in Bangalore with 3–5 years of experience typically ranges between ₹7 LPA to ₹14 LPA, depending on technical expertise, automation tool proficiency, and project exposure.
