Job Description

As a Software Developer Tester at Ericsson, you will be a key contributor to the evolution of 5G and next-generation connectivity solutions. This role is positioned within the Packet Core domain, where you will design, automate, and execute complex test scenarios critical to ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of Ericsson’s Private 5G solutions. You will work closely with distributed engineering teams, engage in technical discussions, and translate intricate requirements into robust test frameworks. This role demands a highly analytical mindset, strong automation abilities, and a solid grounding in modern cloud-native technologies.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and enhance automated test frameworks for Private 5G packet core and management plane components.

2. Participate in requirements discussions, analyze technical specifications, and convert them into comprehensive test strategies.

3. Write, peer-review, and execute automated test cases ensuring high coverage and alignment with product quality standards.

4. Debug, isolate, and resolve defects across complex cloud-native and networking environments.

5. Break down large testing initiatives into manageable tasks to support iterative development cycles.

6. Collaborate with global stakeholders, providing clarity on testing goals, progress, and risk mitigation strategies.

7. Validate microservices-based architectures deployed using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.

8. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated tests into Jenkins, Gerrit, SonarQube, Helm, and related tools.

9. Work on infrastructure automation using Ansible, Terraform, shell scripts, and other DevOps tooling.

10. Support performance testing, reliability assessments, and scenario simulations for production-like environments.

11. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to drive testability, stability improvements, and quality automation practices.

12. Help refine best practices in SDET methodologies within the 5G testing ecosystem.

Requirements & Eligibility

1. Strong proficiency in Python scripting, test automation, and debugging methodologies.

2. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

3. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools including Ansible, Terraform, and shell scripting.

4. Experience working with CI/CD technologies such as Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Sonar, and Helm.

5. Ability to translate complex technical requirements into detailed and reliable test plans.

6. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and experience debugging distributed systems.

7. Preferred: experience with 4G/5G core networks, telecom protocols, or the security domain such as IPSec.

8. Preferred: understanding of VPP (Vector Packet Processing) data plane operations.

9. Preferred: programming knowledge in languages like C++, Java, or Golang.

10. Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a highly collaborative, global engineering environment.

Expected Salary

SDET roles at Ericsson in Bangalore with cloud-native, telecom, and automation skill sets typically range between ₹10 lakhs and ₹20 lakhs per annum. Candidates with telecom protocol knowledge, Golang development capability, and experience in 5G core testing may command salaries toward the higher end of this range.
