Eightfold.ai: Lead SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test)

Eightfold.ai is hiring a Lead SDET to drive high-impact test strategies and automation for cutting-edge AI/ML-powered HR solutions. As a hands-on leader, you'll be expected to own product quality from planning through release, while working cross-functionally with product, development, and QA teams.

The role requires a strong foundation in test automation, experience with distributed systems, and familiarity with GenAI tools to streamline testing, defect detection, and reporting. You’ll not only define quality standards but also lead risk mitigation strategies and own deliverables that directly impact the customer experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop detailed test plans, cases, and procedures aligned with business goals

• Collaborate with product managers and dev leads for test case walkthroughs and design validation

• Establish and monitor quality metrics for projects

• Define and implement QA milestones, checkpoints, and risk assessments

• Integrate GenAI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot to enhance test generation, defect analysis, and reviews

• Provide guidance to QA teams, support training, and enable internal knowledge sharing

• Drive the use of best practices in BDD, automation, and cloud testing strategies

• Analyze and troubleshoot backend systems, APIs, and test failures

• Uphold Agile delivery principles and contribute to continuous improvement

Requirement & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Computer Science or related discipline)

• 6–10 years of experience in automation testing, QA leadership, and backend testing

• Expertise in Python, Selenium, and BDD frameworks

• Strong understanding of cloud-native apps, APIs, and distributed systems

• Familiarity with tools for test management and industry QA standards

• Experience with AI/ML application testing and AI-powered testing tools

• Solid skills in test automation, API validation, and integration/system testing

• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies

• Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Good to Have

• Experience using GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.

• Prior exposure to testing AI/ML features or data pipelines

• Strategic thinking for quality improvement and automation coverage

• Experience in mentoring junior testers or leading a small QA team

Expected Salary for this Role
💰 ₹30 LPA – ₹45 LPA (based on compensation data from similar Lead SDET roles at top-tier product-based companies like Eightfold.ai)
