Job Description

In this role as a Financial Crime Investigator within Deloitte’s Regulatory, Risk & Forensic practice, you will support clients in navigating complex financial crime risks, evolving AML regulations, and compliance frameworks. This position places you at the frontline of investigating suspicious financial activity, conducting detailed reviews, and ensuring adherence to global regulatory expectations. You will work on high-visibility engagements involving anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, fraud reviews, and customer due diligence, contributing to the integrity and resilience of client operations. This role is ideal for early-career professionals looking to build expertise in financial crime prevention, regulatory compliance, and forensic analysis.

As a Junior Analyst, you will gain exposure to transformative technologies, GenAI-driven investigative tools, and industry-leading methodologies adopted by Deloitte’s global risk teams. You will support lookbacks, transaction monitoring, KYC reviews, alert investigations, and documentation assessments, while learning from seasoned professionals in banking compliance, law enforcement, and forensic consulting. Through structured engagements and continuous learning, you will contribute to client programs designed to strengthen risk governance, reduce operational vulnerabilities, and enable regulatory alignment across jurisdictions.


Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Conduct detailed transaction monitoring, alert investigations, and AML lookback assessments to identify potential money laundering or suspicious behavior.

  2. Review KYC documentation, CDD/EDD reports, and entity filings to assess compliance with regulatory standards and risk classifications.

  3. Analyze financial statements, annual reports, corporate structures, and complex documents to detect anomalies or red flags.

  4. Support sanctions screening, fraud investigations, and CTR reviews by validating data, cross-checking information, and documenting findings.

  5. Apply AML regulations, policies, and guidelines to investigative processes, ensuring adherence to U.S. and non-U.S. compliance expectations.

  6. Perform research using public databases, proprietary tools, and regulatory sources to enrich investigative insights.

  7. Prepare detailed case reports, narratives, and summaries capturing investigative outcomes and recommended disposition.

  8. Collaborate with team members to deliver risk and regulatory operate services across diverse client engagements.

  9. Follow structured workflows, update trackers, and maintain timely communication in rotational shift assignments when required.

  10. Support remediation efforts, process enhancements, and control strengthening activities as part of Deloitte’s forensic operate teams.

  11. Handle sensitive data responsibly while complying with confidentiality, risk management, and governance policies.

  12. Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, training programs, and professional development opportunities within Deloitte’s regulatory practice.


Requirements & Eligibility

  1. 0–3 years of experience in banking, financial services operations, AML, compliance, or investigative functions.

  2. Strong research, analytical, and investigative skills with the ability to examine complex documentation and extract meaningful insights.

  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing clear investigative reports and collaborating with stakeholders.

  4. Proficiency in MS Excel and comfort working with structured datasets during reviews and investigations.

  5. Ability to understand essential AML regulations, sanctions frameworks, and compliance-related guidelines.

  6. Detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and risk awareness.

  7. Self-motivated, disciplined, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

  8. Flexibility to work rotational shifts based on client project needs.

  9. Educational qualification: BBA, B.Com, B.Sc, BCA, BA, BBM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

  10. Strong willingness to learn, adapt quickly, and grow within Deloitte’s Regulatory, Risk & Forensic team.
