Job Description

As a Member of the TechOps team within Trading Connectivity at D. E. Shaw, you will contribute to the core technology that powers the firm’s sophisticated trading ecosystem. This role is instrumental in ensuring seamless communication between internal trading systems, brokers, and global exchanges. You will support and enhance the infrastructure that drives order execution, real-time message processing, and compliance awareness—components vital to the smooth functioning of high-performing trading environments. By collaborating closely with traders, quants, and technology teams, you will help translate business objectives into robust technical workflows that support the firm’s trading operations.

The position offers a unique blend of operational responsibility and strategic problem-solving. You will troubleshoot connection issues, oversee broker integrations, execute configuration updates, and manage UAT cycles that prepare systems for new instruments or product certifications. This role requires a strong technical foundation, adaptability, and the ability to respond quickly to time-critical issues. Roles & Responsibilities

  • Monitor real-time production issues related to broker connectivity, coordinating with brokers, internal systems, and TechOps team members to ensure timely resolution.

  • Track upcoming broker changes and execute configuration updates, UAT testing, and validation to maintain seamless trading functionality.

  • Set up new trading connections, focusing primarily on configuration adjustments aligned with internal and external requirements.

  • Conduct user acceptance tests with brokers and perform new product certifications to ensure compatibility with trading platforms.

  • Work with the Financial Operations (FinOps) team to resolve queries, enable account setups, and manage locate setup configurations.

  • Support the data analytics team by investigating production issues related to locate processes and providing actionable resolutions.

  • Drive long-term simplification initiatives by collaborating with brokers to implement standardized processes and reduce system complexity.

  • Document processes, configurations, and connection workflows to maintain operational transparency and knowledge continuity.

  • Partner with internal trading strategy groups to understand requirements and support projects that interface with brokers and exchanges.

  • Assist in integrating third-party trading platforms, ensuring real-time messaging and execution workflows function smoothly.


Requirements & Eligibility

  • Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), BSc (Computer Science/IT), BE, or BTech with a strong technical foundation.

  • Around 2 years of experience in application support, L1/L2 operations, or similar IT support roles involving production systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging abilities, especially in time-sensitive operational environments.

  • Flexibility to work early morning or late-night shifts depending on operational requirements.

  • Hands-on experience working in Linux environments with exposure to scripting and familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or Java.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple high-priority issues efficiently within an agile setup.

  • Prior exposure to financial services or trading environments is an advantage.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret system interactions and propose effective solutions.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain composure during critical production incidents.

  • Open to candidates restarting their careers after a break, provided they bring relevant experience.
