Job Description

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET I) role at Amagi is a critical position focused on ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of next-generation media technology platforms. As one of the fastest-growing media and entertainment technology companies globally, Amagi builds cloud-based solutions that power connected TV, FAST platforms, ad monetization, and large-scale content distribution. In this role, you will work closely with engineering teams to embed quality into every stage of the development lifecycle, enabling faster releases without compromising system stability.

As an SDET I, you will take ownership of designing and implementing automated test solutions across APIs, backend services, and user interfaces. The role emphasizes shift-left testing, where quality is addressed early through strong collaboration with developers. You will be responsible for building reusable automation frameworks, writing robust test cases, and ensuring that continuous integration pipelines provide clear and actionable feedback. Your work directly contributes to reducing defects, improving release confidence, and maintaining high engineering standards.

This role is ideal for early-career professionals who enjoy coding, problem-solving, and building systems that scale. You will gain exposure to modern testing practices, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native systems, and high-throughput media platforms used across the globe. Working in Amagi’s innovation-driven environment, you will be encouraged to take ownership, learn continuously, and play an active role in shaping product quality as the company continues its rapid global expansion.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for API, UI, and integration testing using clean and reusable code.

  • Write stable, data-driven automated test cases for REST and gRPC services as well as web-based user interfaces.

  • Collaborate with developers to enable shift-left testing, ensuring defects are detected early in the development cycle.

  • Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions with clear quality gates.

  • Manage flaky tests by identifying root causes, improving test stability, and maintaining reliable test execution.

  • Create comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, test data, and controlled test environments using mocks and stubs where required.

  • Drive defect triage, root-cause analysis, and resolution in collaboration with development and product teams.

  • Track, analyze, and improve quality metrics such as test coverage, defect leakage, build health, and mean time to fix issues.

  • Participate in code reviews, define quality standards, and contribute to testing documentation and best practices.

  • Work closely with QA, development, and release teams to ensure timely and high-quality product releases.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (BE, BTech, or MTech) in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

  • 0–2 years of experience as an SDET or QA Automation Engineer with strong programming skills in Java or Python.

  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, debugging, and clean coding practices.

  • Hands-on experience with UI automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright and API testing tools like Postman, REST Assured, or pytest-based frameworks.

  • Experience using testing frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, or pytest along with version control systems like Git.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions for automated test execution.

  • Strong understanding of testing levels including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, along with test design techniques.

  • Comfortable working in Linux environments with practical knowledge of common commands and system operations.

  • Clear communication skills, strong ownership mindset, and a preference for automation-driven quality over repetitive manual testing.

Expected Salary

For the SDET I role at Amagi in Bangalore, the expected salary typically ranges between ₹8 LPA to ₹14 LPA, depending on skills, academic background, and hands-on automation experience. In addition to competitive compensation, Amagi offers opportunities to work on global-scale platforms, exposure to modern cloud technologies, and strong long-term career growth in the media technology domain.
