Job Description

The Young Graduate Trainee opportunity at Infineon in Bangalore is designed for early-career professionals who want to build a strong foundation in software automation, scripting, testing, and semiconductor technology. Working within the Research & Development function, the role focuses on developing scripts and software tools used to validate Wi-Fi functionality for advanced IoT devices. Automation engineers in this position will contribute to software solutions that help engineering teams test and verify connected-device technologies efficiently and reliably. The role provides an opportunity to work with firmware developers, product managers, test engineers, and other cross-functional teams, allowing graduates to understand how software automation supports the development and validation of modern semiconductor and IoT products. For candidates with a Computer Science background and 0–2 years of automation experience, this role offers valuable exposure to practical R&D engineering.

A key focus of the position is Python scripting and software development. Candidates will be expected to create scripts and tools that support Wi-Fi validation while applying fundamental software engineering principles to build maintainable solutions. The role also requires an understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, software architecture, and scalable software development practices. Knowledge of web technologies is useful for developing and integrating automation tools that interact with modern software systems and testing environments. Infineon also highlights the importance of understanding how artificial intelligence can be applied to software development, giving candidates an opportunity to explore modern AI-assisted engineering practices. Through practical assignments, graduates can strengthen their programming, automation, debugging, architecture, and software design capabilities while contributing to technology development.

The role also emphasizes communication and cross-functional collaboration. Automation engineers need to coordinate activities with multiple groups, communicate technical information clearly, and understand the requirements of firmware, product, and test teams. This makes the position suitable not only for technically strong graduates but also for candidates who enjoy teamwork and solving engineering problems collaboratively. Infineon operates at the intersection of semiconductor technology, power systems, mobility, and IoT, providing a broader technology environment in which early-career professionals can develop their skills. Candidates joining this Young Graduate Trainee position can gain practical experience in software engineering and automation while contributing to solutions supporting smart, connected, efficient, and increasingly intelligent products.
