Job Description

American Express is hiring an Analyst – Data Science to join its Credit & Fraud Risk (CFR) – Global Data Science CoE, working closely with the AiDa AI/ML Product team. This role sits at the intersection of data science, AI/ML product development, and business decisioning, impacting millions of cardmembers and merchants globally.

In this role, you will contribute to building and scaling enterprise-grade AI and ML products that enable smarter, faster, and more responsible decision-making. You’ll collaborate with product managers, engineers, designers, and business stakeholders to transform AI concepts into production-ready solutions while balancing innovation, governance, and user adoption.

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to defining the long-term AI/ML product strategy and roadmap, aligned with measurable business outcomes.

• Solve complex business problems through prioritization, ownership, and execution of AI-driven products.

• Manage and prioritize product backlogs, balancing stakeholder needs and evolving AI adoption requirements.

• Translate product vision into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Drive end-to-end AI/ML product development, from MVP to scalable production solutions.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to operationalize ML models and data pipelines.

• Support ideation, POCs, and launch of innovative AI/ML capabilities across the enterprise.

• Evangelize AI products internally to drive adoption and maximize business value.

• (Learning Track) Curate and deliver technical training in AI, Cloud, Spark, and Big Data for users at different skill levels.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong quantitative, analytical, and structured problem-solving skills.

• Solid technical foundation in AI/ML, Python, SQL, data analytics, and visualization.

• Understanding of the ML model development lifecycle (MDLC) including feature engineering, algorithm selection, optimization, deployment, and monitoring.

• Familiarity with ML algorithms such as Decision Trees, Boosting techniques, and model evaluation approaches.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, and Vertex AI.

• Exposure to Big Data platforms such as Hadoop and PySpark.

• Knowledge of Notebook-based IDEs like Jupyter and workflow tools such as Airflow.

• Understanding of ML deployment, governance, and regulatory considerations.

• Familiarity with product and project management tools like JIRA, Rally, and Confluence.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

Good to Have

• Experience designing or contributing to AI platforms or reusable ML frameworks.

• Prior exposure to fraud risk, credit risk, or decision science domains.

• Experience working with cross-functional global teams.

• Strong stakeholder management and product storytelling skills.
