Job Description

As a QA Engineer (Manual Testing), you will be part of Caterpillar’s Technology, Digital, and Data organization, working with global teams that build scalable, reliable, and customer-focused digital solutions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of Caterpillar’s eCommerce and digital platforms across web and mobile applications.

In this position, you will take ownership of end-to-end manual testing activities including functional, regression, integration, and system testing. You will design and execute detailed test cases, manage complex test data scenarios, and ensure comprehensive coverage across customer journeys. Working closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams, you will help embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

You will also be responsible for tracking and reporting QA metrics, performing root cause analysis, and supporting automation readiness by identifying high-value areas for automation. This role is ideal for QA professionals who are detail-oriented, metrics-driven, and comfortable working in fast-paced Agile environments delivering frequent, high-quality releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement effective test strategies, test plans, and test cases aligned with business and technical requirements.

• Execute manual testing including functional, regression, integration, and system testing for web and mobile applications.

• Create, manage, and validate test data for positive, negative, and edge-case scenarios.

• Log, track, verify, and close defects using tools like JIRA, Zephyr, Azure Test Plans, or similar.

• Perform root cause analysis and collaborate with development teams to ensure timely defect resolution.

• Track, analyze, and report QA metrics such as test coverage, defect density, execution progress, and pass/fail rates.

• Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, providing QA sign-offs and release readiness inputs.

• Collaborate with automation engineers to support automation framework readiness and identify automation candidates.

• Ensure high-quality, on-time releases in a fast-paced eCommerce environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in manual testing (functional, regression, integration, system testing).

• Proven ability to write clear, detailed, and effective test cases.

• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Azure Test Plans, JIRA, Zephyr, or equivalent.

• Solid understanding of QA metrics, reporting, and dashboards.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Good to Have

• Exposure to eCommerce platforms, workflows, and customer journey testing.

• Understanding of payment gateways and transactional systems.

• Experience collaborating with automation testing teams.
