Barclays is hiring a skilled Test Automation Engineer to join its Global Payment Services technology team in Pune. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of large-scale payment platforms that operate at global scale. You will work on systems where challenges are measured in billions of transactions, milliseconds of latency, and strict regulatory expectations. Your work will directly impact how millions of customers and institutions move money securely across the world.

In this role, you will design and execute robust test automation strategies across complex, service-oriented architectures. You will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, architects, and product teams to analyze requirements, define acceptance criteria, and validate functionality across multiple integration layers. A strong focus will be placed on automation, early defect detection, and continuous improvement of testing practices within Agile delivery models.

As a Test Automation Engineer at Barclays, you will also contribute to strengthening testing frameworks, improving defect management processes, and embedding quality across the software development lifecycle. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive automated testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience.

• Analyze project documentation to extract test requirements, system behavior, and business flows.

• Create, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using appropriate frameworks and tools.

• Perform root-cause analysis of defects and collaborate with development teams to support resolution.

• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to acceptance criteria and test estimations.

• Use test management tools such as Jira to manage test execution, defects, and quality metrics.

• Validate service-oriented architectures using multiple transport protocols including HTTP and messaging systems.

• Promote best practices in automation, code quality, and continuous testing.

• Participate in peer reviews and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the QA community.

• Continuously improve testing methodologies, frameworks, and automation coverage.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Strong experience with test automation engineering in enterprise environments.

• Experience with messaging formats such as MT, XML, SWIFT, CHIPS, and FEDWIRE.

• Hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript.

• Strong understanding of SOA testing, middleware, and messaging protocols (HTTP, JMS, MQ, TIBCO).

• Experience with Agile testing methodologies and defect lifecycle management.

• Knowledge of Java automation, Selenium, and BDD frameworks such as Cucumber/Gherkin.

• Working knowledge of PL/SQL and Unix/Linux environments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements with a pragmatic approach.

Expected Salary
