Job Description

As an Automation – Test Specialist / Senior Test Specialist for Cloud API at KONE Technology and Innovation, you will play a vital role in validating and assuring the quality of next-generation digital services that connect elevators and escalators to the cloud. This role sits within KONE’s R&D organization, where digital innovation meets real-world physical systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of Cloud API platforms that power connected services, analytics, and future data-driven solutions. Your work directly impacts how billions of people experience seamless movement within buildings every day.

In this role, you will work on advanced cloud-native and IoT-based systems, focusing on both manual and automated testing of APIs, web portals, and integrated hardware environments. You will design, develop, and optimize automation frameworks using Python and Robot Framework while collaborating closely with development teams to ensure timely, high-quality releases. By validating APIs such as Experience API and Operational API, you will help ensure secure data flow from connected devices into AWS-based cloud platforms.

As a senior member of the Cloud API testing team, you will influence testing strategies, propose new tools and techniques, and drive continuous improvement in automation practices. Roles & Responsibilities

• Execute automated and manual testing for new Cloud API features, including UI and multiple REST-based APIs.

• Design, develop, and optimize automation test scripts using Python and Robot Framework.

• Maintain and track a structured defect list, collaborating with development teams to ensure timely fixes.

• Validate API UI portals and cloud workflows to support go/no-go release decisions.

• Ensure end-to-end application quality before promoting builds to the next testing or release stage.

• Propose and implement innovative automation techniques to reduce execution time and improve test coverage.

• Develop clear, scalable, and reusable automated test cases aligned with best practices.

• Support development teams in meeting delivery timelines through proactive testing and feedback.

• Maintain hardware test setups in laboratory environments, adhering to 5S and safety guidelines.

• Analyze test results, review test cases, and report defects clearly and on time.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ECE, E&I, EEE, or equivalent technical discipline).

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in test automation roles within Web, Cloud, or IoT domains.

• Strong Python programming skills for developing and maintaining automated test scripts.

• Hands-on experience with Robot Framework and Selenium WebDriver for UI automation.

• Proven experience in API testing (manual and automated) using tools such as Postman, REST APIs, and Webhooks.

• Mandatory working knowledge of AWS services; AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solution Architect certification is a plus.

• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab for continuous testing integration.

• Familiarity with defect and requirement management tools like Jira and Jama.

• Exposure to hardware integration testing, Linux environments, and test environment maintenance.

• Strong understanding of STLC, Agile methodologies, quality metrics, and KPI-driven testing.
