Job Description

As a Data Analyst at Barclays, you will be a part of the Data and Analytics functionβ€”an innovation hub driving business strategy and enhancing the customer experience through data-driven insights. In this role, you will focus on Data and Records Governance, ensuring that the bank’s data assets are well-governed, compliant, and strategically aligned with regulatory and business objectives.

You’ll take ownership of evolving data lineage and data quality tooling, contributing to frameworks that support sustainable governance across global business units. Your work will have a direct impact on how Barclays manages its information assets, strengthens regulatory compliance, and leverages data to drive operational excellence and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Data and Records Governance Framework in line with regulatory and industry standards.

  • Implement and monitor data quality controls, ensuring compliance across global operations.

  • Identify and address data management risks, gaps, and control weaknesses through proactive governance.

  • Lead the development of a records management program covering identification, classification, storage, retention, retrieval, and disposal of data.

  • Evolve data lineage and data quality tooling for sustainable governance and control automation.

  • Collaborate with business, risk, and technology stakeholders to align governance initiatives with business value streams.

  • Provide training and guidance across teams on data governance standards and best practices.

  • Engage in complex data analysis from multiple sources to identify insights and drive improvements.

  • Influence senior stakeholders through data-driven recommendations and governance insights.

  • Contribute to policy development, risk mitigation, and the strengthening of control environments.


Qualifications & Skills

Must-Have Skills:

  • 5–8 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Regulatory Data Reporting.

  • Proven understanding of data controls, data lineage, data quality frameworks, and records management principles.

  • Experience working in regulated industries (preferably Banking or Financial Services).

  • Hands-on experience with cloud data environments and modern data warehouse platforms.

  • Strong understanding of risk and control frameworks, including audit and compliance processes.

  • Ability to interpret complex data issues and communicate them effectively to both technical and business audiences.

Highly Valued Skills:

  • Experience in data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, or IBM IGC).

  • Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Familiarity with metadata management, data cataloging, and data quality tooling.

  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

  • Experience leading governance or compliance remediation programs.
