Job Description

As a Software Quality Engineer at AspenTech, you will serve as a vital link between product innovation and user satisfaction, ensuring that our market-leading Operational Technology (OT) solutions perform with precision. Leveraging your testing expertise, you will design and execute effective validation strategies—be it functional or automated testing—that align with both requirements and user expectations. Your role deepens product reliability and enhances customer trust by identifying defects early, optimizing test automation, and refining quality processes in alignment with industry best practices Built In+1.

In this role, you will collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams—developers, engineers, and scrum members—to uphold a high bar of software quality throughout the CI/CD pipeline. From authoring robust test cases and executing automation scripts (backend, UI, or API tests) to configuring test environments, your efforts drive continuous improvement and faster releases. You’ll also be expected to proactively analyze defects, contribute to quality dashboards, and support agile execution, strengthening AspenTech’s reputation for delivering reliable, enterprise-grade industrial software Built In+1.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test methodologies, plans, and automation frameworks tailored for OT software products.

2. Author, execute, and manage detailed test charters, cases, and procedures—including both manual and automated test scripts.

3. Automate testing workflows across backend, UI, and API layers using frameworks such as Robot Framework, pytest, or others.

4. Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines and test environments for continuous integration, build validation, and release quality assurance.

5. Review defect descriptions, product requirements, and design documents to ensure full coverage in test plans.

6. Perform non-functional testing—including performance, reliability, scalability, and stability assessments—to maintain stringent quality benchmarks.

7. Communicate testing status and insights through dashboards and collaborate with remote QA and engineering teams for streamlined coordination.

8. Identify, deploy, and evaluate new QA tools and technologies to boost testing efficiency and effectiveness.

9. Engage in cross-regional agile execution, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and ongoing quality enhancement.

Requirements & Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

2. Early-career experience (typically 1–3 years) in software quality assurance, testing automation, or QA engineering in agile environments.

3. Proficiency in programming or scripting languages (Python preferred), with experience in creating and maintaining test automation suites.

4. Hands-on familiarity with modern QA tools and frameworks such as pytest, Robot Framework, Selenium, TestComplete, or JMeter.

5. Exposure to CI/CD processes, deployment infrastructures, virtualization or containerization, and source control systems.

6. Experience executing non-functional testing (e.g., performance, scalability, reliability) to validate product resilience.

7. Excellent analytical skills for translating requirements into test strategies and detailed case coverage.

8. Strong communication and collaboration abilities, particularly in distributed teams across regions and in agile workflows.

9. A mindset of continuous improvement with the ability to propose and implement process or tooling enhancements for QA.
