Job Description

Amazon Devices has transformed consumer electronics by building iconic products such as Kindle, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Amazon Dash, and Echo devices. The Hardware Compute Group is now seeking a highly skilled Multimedia Quality Assurance Engineer II (QAE II) to join its team in Bengaluru, India. As a QA leader, you will own the strategy for test infrastructures, frameworks, and automation that empower development teams to deliver high-quality products at scale. You will work on challenging problems, ensuring that multimedia experiences—including display, camera, graphics, and codec—meet Amazon’s high standards. Your role will involve driving test automation, analyzing system architectures, and implementing robust quality assurance solutions across the ecosystem of Amazon devices.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement test strategies, frameworks, and infrastructures that ensure robust product quality.

  • Design and maintain test harnesses and automation pipelines for multimedia and hardware systems.

  • Act as a key stakeholder in the release process, ensuring defects are resolved per SLA and customer experiences remain uncompromised.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to own quality standards and empower developers to test their services effectively.

  • Execute detailed test plans for multimedia features such as display, camera, codecs, and graphics.

  • Conduct automation testing and scripting to reduce manual effort and enhance testing accuracy.

  • Analyze test procedures and system architectures to identify risks and improve performance.

  • Perform root cause analysis and debugging of technical issues across Linux subsystems and device platforms.

  • Coordinate with offshore QA teams for test execution, validation, and sign-off.

  • Report quality metrics, test progress, and system health, ensuring transparency across stakeholders.


Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance Engineering.

  • Strong hands-on experience in automation testing and manual testing.

  • Proficiency in scripting/coding, with strong skills in Python.

  • Expertise in Linux subsystems, device-level testing, and debugging.

  • Prior experience testing multimedia components such as display, camera, graphics, and codecs.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes effectively.

  • Familiarity with quality metrics, test plans, and release cycles in large-scale engineering teams.

  • Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in audio testing, AV sync validation, and streaming platform certifications (e.g., YouTube, Netflix).

  • Hands-on experience in consumer electronics device testing.

  • Proven track record in building or leading test automation frameworks.

  • Advanced technical debugging skills and the ability to work on complex hardware/software integrations.
