Job Description:

GE Vernova is seeking a Software Quality Test Engineer to join its Renewable Energy Grid Solutions team in Hyderabad. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the testing and validation of embedded software used in industrial control applications for the electrical transmission and distribution industry. As part of a global research and development team, you will design and execute a range of manual, automated, and simulation-based test procedures to ensure that products meet design specifications and comply with industry standards.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Participate in agile development teams and contribute to the design and execution of embedded software test cases.

• Gain familiarity with GE controllers, their functionalities, and their role in energy transmission systems.

• Collaborate with development and system teams to test containerized microservices in complex simulation environments.

• Develop and execute detailed functional verification test plans, including performance, boundary, and negative testing scenarios.

• Establish traceability between requirements and test cases, ensuring complete coverage throughout the test cycle.

• Identify, document, and report software defects, working closely with developers for timely resolution.

• Validate resolved defects by re-testing and confirming fixes in system environments.

• Record, track, and report test results in a structured and effective manner.

• Assist in defect prioritization and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices.

• Stay updated with emerging tools, industrial protocols, and technologies relevant to substation automation and SCADA systems.

Requirements & Eligibility:

• A Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is required.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in software development, software testing, SCADA communications, or control system integration.

• Strong knowledge of electronic engineering fundamentals, electrical protection, and substation automation.

• Hands-on familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870, IEC 61850, IEEE 1588, and Ethernet communications.

• Understanding of utility and SCADA protocol concepts, networking, and interaction between intelligent electronic devices (IEDs).

• Practical exposure to container technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

• Ability to use test tools such as protocol analyzers, simulation applications, and device configuration utilities.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills with attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams.

• Self-motivated, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.

Expected Salary:

In Hyderabad, Software Quality Test Engineers with 2–4 years of experience typically earn between ₹6.5 LPA to ₹11.0 LPA, depending on technical expertise, domain specialization, and prior exposure to industrial control systems or SCADA.
