Emerson – Senior/Lead System Software Test Engineer (Automation Test)

Emerson is seeking a highly skilled Senior/Lead System Software Test Engineer (Automation Test) to join its engineering team in Pune. In this role, you will take ownership of testing web-based applications for Rosemount Level Measurement Products, ensuring that they meet high standards of performance, reliability, and security. You will lead automation initiatives, strengthen test strategies, and drive continuous improvement across testing processes.

This role demands deep expertise in automation frameworks, API testing, DevOps practices, and system integration testing, combined with a strong grasp of software quality assurance principles. You will also play a crucial part in cybersecurity validation, performance benchmarking, and CI/CD deployments, helping Emerson deliver smarter and safer solutions for critical industries.

As a Senior/Lead Test Engineer, you will not only execute testing but also mentor teams, define best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure robust and scalable test coverage. Roles & Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze requirements, design documents, and specifications, providing feedback to improve product quality.

• Design and develop comprehensive test scenarios, test cases, and test data for web applications.

• Create and implement manual and automated test cases for functional, integration, performance, and security testing.

• Build and maintain automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Protractor, or Robot Framework.

• Perform API testing using Postman, JMeter, and REST Assured.

• Execute performance and load testing with JMeter.

• Work with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes for CI/CD deployments and automation pipelines.

• Conduct defect identification, reporting, and lifecycle tracking using standard defect management tools.

• Collaborate with developers, testers, and product owners to deliver seamless releases.

• Drive automation best practices, code reviews, and test documentation standards.

• Participate in cybersecurity testing, including Secure SDLC practices and tools like CIS-CAT Pro.

• Support system integration testing, containerized deployments, and multi-platform (Windows/Linux) validation.

• Mentor team members, promote continuous improvement, and contribute to Scrum/Agile ceremonies.

Requirements & Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics.

• 8–12 years of strong hands-on experience in automation testing and scripting.

• Proficiency with automation tools: Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Protractor, or Robot Framework.

• Programming/scripting expertise: Java or Python (preferred).

• Hands-on experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Proficient in API testing and performance testing using JMeter.

• Solid knowledge of Windows & Linux OS platforms.

• Experience with static & dynamic code analysis tools (preferred).

• Strong background in defect management tools and Agile/Scrum methodology.

• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, TCP/IP.

• Exposure to cybersecurity testing and secure coding practices.

• Experience in cybersecurity verification tools and compliance testing.
